Obituary- Pierson, Nancy
Mrs. Nannie D. Pierson died at the Ellis hospital, Schenectady, N. Y. on Friday, January 7, after a long illness. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert D. Van Nordstrand of Scotia, N. Y. where she had lived for several years.
The body was brought to Rossville, Kans., January 11, for funeral services and interment and was met by many relatives and friends.
Mrs. Pierson was born August 18, 1858, at Orleans, Indiana. She lived in and near Rossville for a short time in 1900 and while here three little daughters died and were buried in the Rossville cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert Van Nordstrand, of Scotia, N. Y.; three grandchildren, Robert, Philip and Lawrence Van Nordstrand, one sister, Mrs. Mary Gay, of Wymore, Nebr.; three brothers, Mr. John Jones of Frankfort, Kans., Mr. Wm. D. Jones of Arcadia, Nebr., Mr. Marion R. Jones of North Loup, Nebr.
Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Shipley met Mrs. Van Nordstrand and children and took them and many of the out of town relatives to their home for dinner. The services were held at two o’clock January 11, in the Rossville Methodist church, Rev. O. E. Brown officiating. Music was furnished by a ladies quartet.
The body of a Mrs. Pierson, was shipped to Rossville Tuesday, from Schenectady, New York, for burial in Rossville cemetery. A funeral service was held in the Methodist church conducted by Rev. O. E. Brown. The deceased lady was a former Rossville resident, living here about 1900-1902. Three of her children died while the family resided here and were laid to rest in Rossville cemetery. After leaving Rossville Mrs. Pierson went to Manhattan and educated her remaining daughter. This daughter after graduation married and located in the New York city. She accompanied the body here for burial.
