Ella Pokorney

WAMEGO – Ella Pokorney, 93, Wamego, formerly of Rossville, died Saturday, June 18, 1994, at a Wamego hospital.

She was born Jan. 22, 1901, in Axtell, the daughter of James and Edna Jackson.

Mrs. Pokorney was a member of The First Christian Church of Rossville. She also belonged to Loyal Chapter No. 176, Order of the Eastern Star of Silver Lake, and the Royal Neighbors. She organized the Good Neighbors in Rossville in 1977.

She was married to Harry K. Pokorney June 1, 1922, at Little River. He died in March 1969.

Survivors include a son, James Pokorney, Silver Lake; two grandsons; and two great grandsons.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at The First Christian Church, Rossville. Private burial will be in Miltonvale Cemetery. Mrs. Pokorney will lie in state from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
