MRS. BELLE QUINLAN
Margaret Isabel Guyette was born May 7,1861, at Kankakee, Illinois. She came to Kansas in 1870 with her parents. They settled m Jackson County near what is now the site of Delia. She was one of the students in the early days at SL Mary’s Mission School. In 1877 she was married at St. Marys to William Quinlan. To this union were born seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughter, Isabelle and Margarite and three sons, George, Tom and James.
She suffered the many hardships of pioneer days and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a charter member of the Royal Neighbors, Hope Camp, at St. Marys. Recently she was presented a Fifty-Year membership pin.
She made her home the last twelve years with Mrs. Elinor McProud of Wamego. In October, 1949, she went San Francisco to visit her son Ed, at whose home she passed away April 5th. She was conscious to the last and knew that the end was not far off, but was ready to go. Her work on earth was done, but her memory and influence still live on.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Elinor McProud of Wamego, and one son, Ed Quinlan of San Francisco; 18 grandchildren and 13 great¬grandchildren and many friends.
A Requiem High Mass was sung at the St. Bernard church Tuesday morning at 9 a. m., Rev. Father Blaufuss officiating. Interment was in Mt. Calvary cemetery at St. Marys—Wamego Reporter.
