Obituary- Raine, Joseph
Joseph M. Raine
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Congregational Church in Maple Hill for Joseph M. Raine, 68, Maple Hill. He died Saturday, May 4, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Raine was an auctioneer and a partner in Manhattan Commission Co. Inc.
He was born Sept. 15, 1916, at Maple Hill, the son of George Lee and Mary Belle Romick Raine. He spent his life in the Maple Hill community.
He served with the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Raine was a member of James Ellmer Romick Post No. 130 of the American Legion at Maple Hill and of Alma Lodge No. 161, AF&AM, at Alma.
His first wife, Ruth Schlotz Raine, preceded him in death. He married Dorothy M. Say July 29, 1968, at Maple Hill. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Bill L. Raine, Topeka, and Art M. Raine, La Grange, Texas; two daughters, Ruth Ann Rogers, Rossville, and Mary Helen Quinatana, Anaheim, Calif.; a stepson, Rod A. Say, Topeka; a stepdaughter, Cathy A. Cooper, Topeka; a brother, Don Raine, Maple Hill; a sister, Leah Mote, Maple Hill; 10 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Callahan Funeral Home, Eskridge, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3003 Van Buren, 66611; or to the Oncology Unit at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, 1500 W. 10th, 66604.
