Elizabeth Ellen Randall
Services will be Thursday, May 15,2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dover Federated Church for Elizabeth Ellen Randall, 99, of Aldersgate Village, who died Sunday May 11th. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at the church.
Ellen was born March 21, 1915 northwest of Dover to Edwin and Ann Scott Sage. Ellen attended Dover schools graduating from Dover Rural High School in 1932. She attended Kansas Normal School in Emporia and Kansas State College in Manhattan. She worked at the Supply Depot in Topeka during WWII. She was a teacher and principal in Shawnee and Wabaunsee County rural schools during the 30's and until her husband returned from WWII. After that she and her husband worked together on a dairy farm until he became ill in 1959. Mrs. Randall started working at Luce Press Clippings as a reader in November 1959. She quickly progressed to Supervisor and then to Office Manager. She continued to work for Luce until March 21, 2000 her 85th birthday.
Ellen was a member of the Rossville American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah and Eastern Star organizations. She was a lifetime member of the Dover Federated Church where she was a member of the Board for several years. She taught the Junior High Sunday School class at the church for many years. Ellen was one of the founders of the Dover Community Foundation where she assisted in implementing a scholarship program for Dover Youth.
