Obituary- Ross, Richard
Richard L. Ross
Richard L. Ross, 73, Topeka, died Saturday, December 7, 1991, at the Colmery-O’Neil Veterans Administration Medical Center.
He was born October 4, 1918, in Chicago, Ill. to Charles L. and Gertrude Wuster Ross. He moved to Topeka in 1980.
Mr. Ross first attended First Church of Christ Scientist, Topeka. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1939 to 1956, seeing duty in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer.
Among his survivors is a daughter, Mrs. Nancy (Ross) C. Bowder, Salina, formerly of Delia.
Military graveside services, with full military honors are at 2 p.m. Tuesday (this afternoon) at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Verschelden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Military graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Leavenworth National Cemetery for Richard L. Ross, 73, Topeka, who died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1991, at a Topeka hospital.
He served in the Navy from 1939 until 1956 when he retired at the rank of chief petty officer. He served in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was born Oct. 4, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Charles L. and Gertrude Wuster Ross. He attended Des Moines, Iowa, schools and Wheaton, Ill., high school. He lived in Topeka since 1980.
Mr. Ross was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Topeka.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy C. Bowden, Salina; two sisters, Charlotte Goff, Northglenn, Colo., and Lois Walker, Amityville, N.Y.; a brother, Robert W. Walker, La Costa, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
