Obituary- Rudolph, Joe

Joe J. Rudolph
Joe J. Rudolph, 92, Silver Lake, died Wednesday, February 24, 1999, at the St. Marys Community Hospital.

Mr. Rudolph worked in the family’s business, Rudolph Power Implement Company. He also farmed and raised registered black Angus cattle and show horses at Fullington Place, one of the earliest homesteads in northern Geary County. He owned and operated Milford Lumber Co. from the 1950s until Milford Dam and expansion at Fort Riley forced him to move in 1964.

He was born June 14,1906, at Gill Township, the son of Joshua Easna and Emma Schweitzer Rudolph. He was graduated from Milford High School in 1931. He had lived in the Silver Lake area since 1964.

Mr. Rudolph was a member of the Christian faith and was instrumental in starting several nondenominational churches.

He was married to Dora Freeman May 15,1940. She died May 25,1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Jo Lawson, in Geary County; a son, Edsel Rudolph, Silver Lake; and three grandchildren.

His service was Saturday afternoon at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Burial was in Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake. Relatives and friends met Friday evening at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Silver Lake United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
