Obituary- Seeley-Swanson, Maye 2

Seeley-Swanson
Maye E. Seeley-Swanson, Topeka, formerly of Camano Island, Wash., died Saturday, March 12, 1994, at a Topeka retirement home.

She was born in Boscobel, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Rhoda Ann Dowling-Seeley, and moved to Decatur County with her parents in 1906 and to the Grove community northwest of Topeka in 1911. She was a graduate of Delia High School. She taught elementary school in Kansas and Washington for over 40 years and worked at the Bremerton, Wash., shipyards during World War II. She lived in Washington 38 years before she returned to Topeka in 1981.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Grange. She was also a member and past matron of Order of Eastern Star and had been active in Democratic Party affairs.

She was married to Gale Roach, Muscotah. He preceded her in death. She was married to Edwin Swanson, Washington state. He died in 1964.

Nieces and nephews survive.

Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be in Muscotah Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 Arrowhead Road, 66604, or to the organization of the donor’s choice.
