Paul H. Small, 48, Sante Fe employ, died Tuesday at his home 2025 Florence, when a bullet from a .22 rifle entered his brain. Dr. H. A. Alexander, county coroner, said the wound was self inflicted. Small had been suffering from headaches for which no apparent cure had been found, Doctor Alexander said.
He was born May 26, 1895, in
Iowa, and had been a resident of Shawnee County since 1909. He lived in Rossville until moving to Topeka in 1942. He served for ten months overseas with the Medical Corps during World War I, and was a member of the American Legion in Rossville. He also was a member of the United Presbyterian church there. Small is survived by his widow, Mrs. Opal Small, of the home; two daughters, Lilian Mae and Mary Margart Small, also of the home; four sons, James Small, Camp Roberts, Calif., Edward Myers Small Oakland, Calif., Paul Henry Jr., and Leo Thomas Small, both of the home three brothers, Harlan T. and Leo Small, both of El Cerrito, Calif., and Earl Small, Des Moines Iowa.
