Obituary- Spacek, Herman

Herman Spacek
WAKARUSA — Herman Spacek, 65, Wakarusa, died Thursday, May 6,1999, at his home.

Mr. Spacek worked for Goodyear Rubber and Tire Go. for 16 years. He also had taught at B&B High School in Baileyville and farmed southwest of Centralia. He served as a signalman in the Navy aboard the USS Pivot.

He was born March 11,1934, in Emmett, the son of Philip Sr. and Edna Henderson Spacek. He graduated from Wamego High School and Kansas State Teachers College.

Mr. Spacek restored and collected antique cars. He was a life member of the Horseless' Carriage Club of America and various antique car dubs. He also was a member of the Wakarusa Presbyterian Church.

He was married to June Owens on Dec. 21, 1952, in Centralia. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Candice Stallbaumer, Topeka; two sons, Douglas Spacek and Lewis Spacek, both of Topeka; two sisters, Cora Koch, Fairview, and Frances Kelly, Grand Island, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Spacek was cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. May 16 in Wakarusa Presbyterian Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alpha Christian Children's School and Home and sent in care of Vermillion State Bank in Vermillion.

Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
