Obituary- Stach, Frank H. 2
Victim of tractor accident identified
ROSSVILLE - The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday identified 84-year-old Frank Stach, of Rossville, as the man killed in a farm accident Tuesday in a field north of town.
Stach was killed when the farm tractor he was driving on an incline overturned on top of him, said Sher¬iff’s Capt. Rick Hladky.
Authorities were called at about 6:30 p.m. to the scene where the acci¬dent occurred — a field about five miles north of Rossville, in the 8800 block of N.W. Carlson Road.
It wasn’t known how long Stach had been underneath the tractor before rescue crews arrived.
Rossville Fire Department Chief Wilbur Stum Jr. said Stach was declared dead at the scene.
Stach lived in Rossville but owned the property where the accident occurred, authorities said.
Obituary information provided to The Topeka Capital-Journal indicat¬ed he farmed his entire life in the Rossville and Delia communities.
Frank Stach
ROSSVILLE — Frank H. Stach, 84, Rossville, was killed in a tractor accident Tuesday, Sept. 12,1999, at his farm near Rossville.
Mr. Stach was a lifelong farmer. He also served three years in the Army with the 91st Infantry Division in Italy and North Africa during World War II.
He was born Aug. 12, 1915, in rural Shawnee County, the son of Frank and Frances Smatla Stach. He was a lifelong resident of the Rossville and Delia communities.
Mr. Stach was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church, ZCBJ Lodge No. 128 in Rossville, Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the 91st Infantry Association.
He married Winifred Decker on Nov. 14, 1943, in Corvallis, Ore. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Virginia Meyer, Rossville; a brother, Bennie Stach, Rossville; four grandchildren; and two great¬grandchildren.
Mr. Stach was preceded in death by a daugh¬ter, Marilyn K. Schmitz, on Nov. 27, 1994.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Stach will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka.
