Obituary- Stadler, George 1 TUCSON, Ariz. — George Stadler, 85, Tucson, Ariz., passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at the Carondelet Hospice facility in Tucson. Mr. Stadler was born March 6, 1919, in Topeka, the son of Nicklaus and Barbara Walder Stadler. He married Thora Parr on May 6, 1939, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include his four children and spouses, David and Phyllis Stadler and Helen and Robert Huffman, Rossville, James and Warrene Stadler, Silver Lake, and Rose and Fred Brown, Tucson, Ariz.; along with 9 grandchildren; a step grandchild; 15 great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Sylvester Stadler, Ruth Cornelius and Nick Stadler, in Kansas, Kathryn Lombardi, in New Jersey, and Irene Mader, in Texas. Twin infant daughters preceded Mr. Stadler in death. Mr. Stadler worked in steel construction during World War II in the naval shipyard in Bremerton, Wash. In 1945, he returned to Kansas and farmed for 16 years. He was in partnership with Mr. Bill Martinek at Rossville Truck and Tractor and Wamego Truck and Tractor for 19 years. He served 3 years as mayor of Rossville and served as a township trustee for a partial term before moving to Topeka. In 1991, Mr. and Mrs. Stadler moved to Phoenix. The past six years they made their home with their daughter Rose, and her husband, in Arizona. Mr. Stadler received his Christian baptism while a member of the Rossville Christian Church. Cremation was Mr. Stadler's choice for final care. Private inurnment will be in Rossville Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 at Rossville Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rossville Christian Church, 411 Spruce, Rossville, Kan.
