Obituary- Startup, Guy
Guy E. Startup
Guy Startup, 77, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital where he had been taken the previous Thursday, after a fall in the yard at his home.
Mr. Startup was a native of this community, the son of the late Ab Startup, and spent his entire life here and in surrounding communities. He was born Aug. 14, 1876, in Rossville.
Most of his early years was devoted to clerical work in stores here and for a time he was in the hardware business in Delia. Of late years he had devoted his energies to house painting.
Mr. Startup had served as a city and township officer and until his health broke was clerk of the City.
Surviving him are two brothers, Walter of Rossville; Bennett of Yakima, Wash., and one sister Della Startup, of the home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Hurley Funeral Home, conducted by the Reverend Douglas Donovan, pastor of the Rossville Christian church.
Music was furnished by Maxine Trimble and Lorene Harth, with Mrs. Wm. Hil at the piano.
Pallbearers were Billy Hesse, Wm. Lambert, Perry Stumbaugh, Floyd Parks, Clyde Strimple and Glen Marney.
Interment was in Rossville cemetery.

Guy Startup, 76, died Saturday at a local hospital. Born in Rossville, he owned a hardware in Delia before his retirement. He was a member of the Rossville Methodist Church.
Surviving are two brothers, Walter R. Startup, Rossville, and Bennett Startup, Yakima, Wash., and a sister, Miss Della Startup, Rossville.
The Hurley Funeral Home in Rossville will announce arrangements.
