Crit Startup
John Christopher Startup was born in Macomb, Ill., May 29, 1860, and passed away at his home in Rossville, March 15, 1937, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 15 days after a short illness.
Mr. Startup came to Kansas with his parents in 1866. From that period until 1891 he lived at Parsons and Chanute Kansas and in Texas. Since 1891 he had made his home in or near Rossville.
He was a member of the United Brethren church.
Surviving are his widow; five sons Harry, of Topeka; Walter of Redland, Calif., Hally, of Silver Lake, Fred of Wakefield, Kan., and Myron of Moline, Ill., two brothers, Charles of Seminole, Okla., and Albert of Rossville; eleven grand children and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o'clock from the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. H.L. Nelson. Music was furnished by a ladies quartet composed of Mrs. Fannie Reser, Mrs. Arline Reid, Mrs. Ruth Hesse, Mrs. Minnie Navarre and Mrs. Mabel Eversole accompanied at the piano.
Interment was in the Rossville cemetery.
