Stauffer
Thayne W. Stauffer, 68, of rural Holton, died at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka late Sunday evening, March 30. He was born July 4, 1917 near Holton, the son of Russell and Lottie Stephenson Stauffer.

He had lived all his life in the Holton community. Thayne had worked 33 years for the State of Kansas Road Maintenance Department and was shop foreman upon his retirement.

On March 26, 1941 he was
married to Arlene L. Stuver. She preceded him in death February 14, 1981.

Surviving him are two daughters, Barbara Matthews, Onaga, and Tharon Gay Brey, Whiting; also a son, Rodney Stauffer, Holton; two brothers, Auswell Stauffer and Lauren Stauffer, Holton; seven grandchildren; two step grand-children; four great-grandchildren; Joetta Walrod and her husband, Roy, and their three children. Joetta lived in his home for a time.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Mercer Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Holton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Mercer Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Mercer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
