C. Norman Steele
|C. Norman Steele, 55, St. Marys, died Sunday, December 20, 1992, in Rochester, NY.

Mr. Steele was an Interstate Truck driver for Trans-Am Tucking Company, Lenexa. He was a Master Plumber and owned and operated a plumbing company in St. Marys. He was a licensed Real Estate Broker.

He was born September 21, 1937, in Topeka, the son of Clifford E. and Willa Wilson Steele.

He was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church and the Teamsters Union.

He grew up in St. Marys, and served in the St. Marys National Guard. He moved to Addison, Tex. in 1965 where he attended the Texas Union Trade School. In 1966, he moved to DeSoto, where he worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Depot, moving back to St. Marys in 1968. He worked at Goodyear for ten years until 1978. He received an Associate Degree in Business and Management from Washburn University in 1986.

He was married to Charlotte Decker, September 27, 1958. They were divorced. He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney D. Steele on July 24, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Del Castillo, Shawnee; a son, Russell Steele, St. Marys; his mother, Willa Steele, St. Marys; a sister, Kay Lenherr, Topeka; a brother, Duane Steele, Jetmore; and five grandchildren.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 26, at St. Marys United Methodist Church. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in St. Marys.

Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys United Methodist Church, or the American Diabetes Association, and sent in care of the funeral home.
