Obituary
Samuel Franklin Stumbaugh was born March 14, 1861, at Blaine, Perry Co. Pa. He passed away January 16, 1936, at the age of 74 years 10 months and 2 days, in a Topeka hospital.

He was the only son of the late George and Mary Stumbaugh. One sister died in infancy.

He came to Rossville, in 1882 and had lived all these years here where he has been one of the most successful farmers in the community.

On December 25, 1890, he was united in marriage to Harriet J. Perry of St. Clere, Kansas.

He is survived by his widow Mrs. Hariet [sic Harriet] J. Stumbaugh, a daughter, Mrs. L.G. Collier of Halstead, Kans. and two sons, Sidney Blaine Stumbaugh, and George Perry Stumbaugh both of Rossville.

Funeral services were held at the Conwell Mortuary in Topeka, Saturday afternoon, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Wright Horton. Two solos were sung by Mrs. Chas. Laird accompanied by Mrs. Harper. The pall bearers were Messrs. E.G. Griswold, C.E. Cless, Morris Bond, Arthur Wallerstedt, A.F. Buchmeier and Joe Barney. Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.

The following out-of-town relatives and friends were here Saturday to attend the funeral of S.F. Stumbaugh; Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Ferguson, Mrs. Sarah J. Perry, Miss Rilda Perry and Junior Drextler, of Holton; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hesse, Wm. Gutshall, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Reding, of St. Marys; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Perry, and Mrs. Belle Perry of St. Clere.


Dr. L.G. Collier of Halstead, Kan. who was called here by the illness and death of his father-in-law, Mr. S.F. Stumbaugh, returned to his home, Sunday. Mrs. Collier remained for a longer stay.

Frank Stumbaugh Dead
Word was received late this afternoon of the death of Frank Stumbaugh, who passed away about noon today, at Christ’s hospital, Topeka. No details were obtainable except funeral services will be held Saturday in Topeka, at Conwell Funeral Home.
