Obituary- Thomas, Kenneth 2
Kenneth R. Thomas
DELIA — Kenneth Roland "Knod No Skuk" Thomas, 66, Delia, died Monday, June 9, 1997, at his home.
Mr. Thomas worked in construction in the Topeka area. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953.
He was born March 31,1931, in Jackson County, the son of Charles K. and Lillian C. Shopteese Thomas. He was adopted by Erma Pequano and Andy Mitchell. He was a lifelong resident of the Delia community.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the Prairie Band of the Potawatomi Tribe and part of the Kickapoo Tribe. He also was a member of Post No. 410 of the American Legion and he was a spiritual leader in the Indian Drum Religion.
Survivors include his adoptive parents, Erma Pequano and Andy Mitchell, Mayetta; two sisters, Etheleene Chenault, Topeka, and LaVeda Wahweotten, Hoyt; and five brothers, Marlin Thomas, Charles Thomas and Melvin Thomas, all of Delia, Dale Thomas, Brimley, Mich., and Bob Hubbard, Lecompton.
Drum services will be Thursday evening at the Danceground west of Mayetta. Burial will be Friday afternoon at the Danceground Cemetery. Mr. Thomas will lie in state until 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton and after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Danceground Building.
