Obituary- Thomas, Wayne 1
Wayne Gene Thomas
SILVER LAKE — Wayne Gene Thomas, 67, Silver Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 1995, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Thomas worked in the store planning division of Fleming Inc. for 26 years before he retired in 1986.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was born June 19, 1928, at Arkansas City, the son of Harvey Randolph and Letha Belle Cauthon Thomas. He had lived in the Silver Lake area since 1957.
Mr. Thomas was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville and he attended Silver Lake United Methodist Church.
He was married to Bonnie L. DeGraff on June 17, 1952, at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Charles "Randy” Thomas, Auburn, James Thomas and Steve Thomas, both of Rossville, and Justin Thomas, Andover; two daughters, Jeanie Thomas, Centralia, and Lisa Trammel, Silver Lake; his mother, Letha Thomas, Arkansas City; a brother, Charles Thomas, Mission; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Parker-Price Mortuary at Topeka. Burial with military graveside honors conducted by Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion will be at the Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Thomas will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
