Obituary- Thomas, Wayne 2


Wayne G. Thomas
Wayne Gene Thomas, 67, Silver Lake, died Thursday, December 28,1995, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Topeka.

He was born June 19,1928, in Arkansas City, Ks., the son of Harvey Randolph and Letha Belle Cauthon Thomas. He moved to the Topeka/Silver Lake area in 1957.

Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the Store Planning Division of Fleming, Inc. for 26 years before retiring in 1986. He attended the Silver Lake United Methodist Church and was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion at Rossville.

June 17, 1952, he was united in marriage to Bonnie L. DeGraff at Topeka. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Arlene Wilson, who died in 1953.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Charles “Randy” Thomas, Auburn, James Thomas and Steve Thomas, both of Rossville, and Justin Thomas, Andover; two daughters, Jeanie Thomas, Centralia, and Lisa Tram¬mel, Silver Lake; his mother, Letha Thomas, Arkansas City; a brother, Charles Thomas, Mission; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday evening at Parker-Price Mortuary. His funeral service was at 1:00 Saturday at the mortuary. Interment was in the Rossville Cemetery, with military graveside honors by Jimmie Lillard Post #31 of the American Legion.
