Obituary- Thompson, C.D. 2

Thompson
C.D. “Donaid” Thompson, 64, Delia, died Tuesday, May 27, at a Topeka hospital.

Mr. Thompson was a farmer and was a receiving clerk at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., in Topeka before he retired in 1983.

He was born Oct. 28, 1921, at Delia, the son of Chris E. and Maude Fleming Thompson. He spent his life in the Delia and Rossville area.

Mr. Thompson was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Delia and was an elder at the church. He was a member of Local No. 307 of United Rubber Workers of America and the cemetery board of Adrian, Cross Creek and Mount Olive cemeteries in Adrian Township in Jackson County. He also was treasurer of Jackson County Rural Water District No. 2.

He was married to Vena Countryman Sept. 11, 1945, at Lyndon. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Janet S. Mulanax, Topeka; a son, Donald R. Thompson, Topeka; his mother, Mrs. Maude Thompson, Delia; and four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Presbyterian Church in Delia. Burial will be in Adrian Cemetery north of Delia. Mr. Thompson will lie in state Thursday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where relatives and friends will meet from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday. He later will lie in state an hour before service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church in Delia.

Thanks to relatives, neighbors and friends for all the prayers and concerns shown to us during the, loss of our loved one. Thanks to the quilters who stayed with Maude, our neighbors who came to help. To Mike and the ambulance crew. To Reverend Adair and the people at St. Francis. To the friends who came to the hospital to be with us. A special thanks to Christina Bowers.

Thanks for the food brought to the house and the funeral dinner. To the crew who was responsible for serving the dinner and the work that goes along with it. Thanks for the memorial contributions and the flowers. The cards and visits have been a great help.
