James J. Thompson
James J. Thompson, 83, of Topeka, died peacefully in his sleep on July 11, 2012 at Plaza West Regional Health Center. He was born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania on February 1,1929, the son of Thomas and Margaret Thompson. He lived with his parents throughout their lives and then subsequently lived with the families of his sister, Mary Ellen, and brother, Ron, until 2006. He then moved to Kansas to live with his niece, Debbie (Arthur) Thomas in Rossville, Kansas. Since 2008 he had been a resident at Plaza West, where he loved everyone he met and was treated exceptionally well. James is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen (John) Burych of Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Thomas Thompson, Jr.; Ron (Nancy, who survives); and Kit (Beth, who survives). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19th from 2 to 4 p.m. at Plaza West, 1570 SW Westport Drive, 66604 in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Plaza West towards their fund for a soft serve ice cream machine for the residents.
