Obituary- Tryon-Ponte, Bernita
Bernita Diane Tryon-Ponte
Bernita Diane Tryon-Ponte, 47, Auburn, was killed in an automobile accident in southwest Shawnee County, Wednesday, September 9,1998.
Mrs. Tryon-Ponte had worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., Montgomery Wards, Meeks Office Equipment, and the Blind Tiger, all in Topeka, and Champions Office Product/United Stationers in Kansas City.
She was born February 4,1951, in Topeka, the daughter of George F. and Helen L. Uhl Mongold. She graduated from Perry High School in 1969 where she was a baton leader. She had lived in Perry, Kansas City, and Topeka before she moved to Auburn in 1992.
Mrs. Tryon-Ponte was a member of the Grantville 4-H Club and a former member of Czech ZCJB Western Fraternal Lodge in Rossville. She also was a tap dancer and had been active at the Auburn Grade school as a room mother and leader for Brownie Troop No. 39 and Girl Scout Troop No. 39.
She was married to Ralph J. Ponte on February 14, 1992, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, August M. Ponte, at home; a son, Jeffery S. Tryon, Kansas City, MO; two stepdaughters, Amy L. Ponte, Topeka, and TereŽsa R. Doty, St. Marys; her parents, George F. and Helen L. Mongold, Perry; and a brother, Terry W. Mongold, Grantville.
Her service was Saturday at the Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial was in Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka.
