Obituary- Umscheid, Elizabeth
Elizabeth L. Umscheid
Elizabeth L. Umscheid, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 at a Topeka care facility. She was born December 28,1925 in St. Marys, KS, the daughter of Henry L. and Myrtle McGranahan Aubert. Elizabeth had resided in the Wamego area from 1945-1952, Topeka from 1952-1967, in Cucamonga, CA from 1967-1982 and moved back to Topeka, in 1982. She was employed by Topeka Presbyterian Manor as a Dietary Aide for several years and a member of the American Legion Post 400 Auxiliary. Elizabeth married Charles E. Umscheid on August 11, 1945 in Corona, CA. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Karen E. Ostrander and Catherine I. Sawyer, both of Topeka, and Lawrence R. Umscheid of Rossville, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gerard J. Umscheid in 1956 and Richard C. Umscheid in 2000. Elizabeth bequeathed her body to the University of Kansas for anatomical study. Private inurnment will take place in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at a later date.
