Dennis Vande Velde
ROSSVILLE — Dennis Paul Vande Velde, 34, Rossville, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at his brother’s home in Red Oak, Texas.
Mr. Vande Velde was a funeral director for Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego.
He was born Feb. 21,1966, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Raymond Charles and Bonnie Ruth Martin Vande Velde. He was raised in Kansas City. He graduated from the Saviour of the World Seminary in 1984. He attended Conception Seminary and he graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1991.
Mr. Vande Velde was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville and the California Funeral Director’s Association.
Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Ruth Vande Velde, Rossville; three brothers, Donnie Vande Velde, Raymore, Mo., Marvin Vande Velde, Red Oak, Texas, and Timothy Vande Velde, Shawnee; and four sisters, Kathleen Strohl, Chula Vista, Calif., Mary Snyder, St. Marys, Bernadette Black, Shawnee Mission, and Dianne Vande Velde, Rossville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Vande Velde will lie in state after 2 p.m. Sunday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Research, 8340 Mission Road, Prairie Village, 66206, Stormont-Vail Hospice Care, 2252 S.W. 10th, Topeka, 66604 or to the Dennis Vande Velde Memorial Fund, and sent in care of the funeral home.
