Raymond C. VandeVelde
ST. MARYS — Raymond C. VandeVelde, 69, St. Marys, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 1994, at his home.
Mr. VandeVelde worked for the General Motors Co. in Kansas City, Kan., for more than 30 years before he retired. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Emmett, the son of Remi and Margaret Lacy VandeVelde. He had lived in St. Marys about 10 years.
Mr. VandeVelde was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, both in St. Marys.
He was married to Bonnie Martin on July 29, 1950, In Rossville. They were divorced.
Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Strohl, Chula Vista, Calif., Mary Snyder, Merriam, Bernadette Bye, Kansas City, Kan., and Dianne VandeVelde, Rossville; four sons, David VandeVelde, Raymore, Mo., Marvin VandeVelde, Lee's Summit, Mo., Tim VandeVelde, Shawnee, and Dennis VandeVelde, Chula Vista, Calif.; a half sister, Liz VandeVelde, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three half brothers, Joe VandeVelde, Rossville, Jim VandeVelde, Emmett, and Eddie VandeVelde, Delia; his stepmother, Margaret VandeVelde, Emmett; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. The casket will remain closed.
