Obituary- Brown, Benjamin

Death of Ben Brown
Benjamin Calvin Brown, a resident of Rossville for about twelve years at various times of his life, died Tuesday night at 11:00 o'clock in his rooms in the Miller building as a result of heart trouble. He had been in a serious condition for about a week. Mr. Brown who had no relatives here was given all the comforts possible during his illness by Rossville friends, until death released him from his suffering. During his residence here he had worked at his trade as painter. Telegrams were sent immediately after his death to relatives in Missouri. An aunt, Mrs. Margaret Clevenger and her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Clevenger of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and three children, Mrs. Willie Hightower, and Retha and Tommie Brown, of Lawson, Mo., arrived last night to attend the funeral, which was held this Thursday afternoon from the M. E. church. Mr. Brown's aged mother at Lawson was unable to come. Interment was made in Rossville cemetery by the side of his wife and baby who died in 1906. Mr. Brown was a native of Missouri born there Feb. 13, 1862 and would have been 54 years old next February. The people of Rossville responded very generously to give Mr. Brown a decent burial when his and the relatives' financial circumstances were learned. The little children who are living with their grandmother will return to Missouri tomorrow.
