Obituary- Viergever, Chris 1

Chris Viergever
ROSSVILLE — Chris Viergever, 83, Rossville, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 1989, at a Topeka hospital.

Mr. Viergever taught school for 25 years in Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas.

He was born March 16, 1906, at Willard, the son of Leonard and Adriana VanDonge Viergever. He lived most of his life in Rossville.

Mr. Viergever was married to Ethel F. Gooden Jan. 3, 1934, at Oskaloosa. She survives. A son, Gerald Viergever, preceded him in death.

Other survivors include a son, Dan W. Viergever, Chanute; two daughters, Sharon Graves, Rossville, and Sue Flerlage, St. Marys; a sister, Adrienne Beer, Willard; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a m. Tuesday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery.

Mr. Viergever will lie in state after 10 a.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions to be used for the beautification of the school grounds of Unified School District 321 may be made in care of Silver Lake Bank, Silver Lake, 66539.
