Obituary- Viergever, Ethel 2
Ethel F. Viergever
ST. MARYS — Ethel F. Viergever, 89, St. Marys, died Monday, April 14,1997, at a St. Marys nursing home.
Mrs. Viergever was an Avon representative in the Rossville community for many years.
She was born Sept. 21,1907, in Maple Hill, the daughter of John Nelson and Rosa Mae Butefish Gooden. She was raised in Maple Hill and attended school at Paxico.
Mrs. Viergever was a member of Rossville Christian Church and the Amaryllis Chapter No. 321 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Rossville, which consolidated with Loyal Chapter No. 176 in Silver Lake. She was a former member of Rossville Christian Church Quilters and Rossville Seniors.
She married Chris Viergever on Jan. 3, 1934, in Oskaloosa. He died Aug. 19,1989. A son, Gerald Viergever, died in 1948.
Survivors include a son, Dan W. Viergever, Chanute; two daughters, Sue Flarlage [sic Flerlage], St. Marys, and Sharon Graves, Rossville; a sister, Wilma Loser, Medford, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial will be at Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Viergever will lie in state after 1p.m. today at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ethel F. Viergever Memorial Fund to be designated later and sent in care of Sharon Graves, 8938 N.W. Capper, Rossville, 66533.
