Lew Wabaunsee
DELIA — Fred Lew Wabaunsee,
20, Delia, was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle accident early Saturday, June 29.

A Brown County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said the accident occurred on a country road three miles east and two miles north of US-75 in Brown County.

He was born Oct. 9, 1964, at Holton, the son of Llewellyn and Freda Nozhackum Wabaunsee. He lived in the Mayetta and Delia communities all his life.

Mr. Wabaunsee was a member of Prairie Band of Potawatomi Indian Tribe and the former Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church west of Mayetta.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Llewellyn Wabaunsee, Delia; five sisters, Mary Lopez, Mayetta, Winifred Wabaunsee, Las Vegas, Nev., Marcia Wabaunsee, Topeka, Lois Dominguez, Wichita, and Frances Wabaunsee, Bemidji, Minn.; and a brother, Richard Wabaunsee, Delia.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church at Mayetta. Burial will be in Ship Shee Cemetery, west of Mayetta. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the Community Building west of Mayetta. Mercer Funeral Home of Holton is in charge of arrangements.
