Obituary- Wehner, Clarence 2

Clarence B. Wehner
Clarence B. Wehner, 84, Rossville, died Friday, September 17, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born February 23,1920, in Delia, the son of John J. and Mary Stallman Wehner.

Clarence had lived in the Rossville and Delia communities all of his life. Before he retired, he was a merchant who owned grocery and variety stores in Rossville and St. Marys. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville.

On April 12, 1944, he married Rita Bindel at St. Augustine Catholic Church at Fidelity, near Sabetha. The couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, June Burgett and Helen Lytle, both of Rossville; a son, Larry B. Wehner, Rossville; three brothers, Melvin Wehner, Eudora, John A. Wehner, Rossville, and Francis Wehner, Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Katherine Rezac, Osage City; a brother-in-law, John L. Simecka, St. Marys; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Irene Doyle and Florence Simecka.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Burial was in the Rossville Cemetery.

A Rosary was recited Sunday evening at Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, 66536, followed by visitation until 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Stanislaus music- ministry, or to the Rossville Senior Center and sent in care of the funeral home.
