Obituary- Wells, Lillie 2

Lillie Mae Wells
Lillie Mae Wells, 90, Soldier, died Wednesday, June 21, 1989, at a Topeka nursing home.

Miss Wells taught a year in a Delia school, then worked 42 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., in Topeka. She retired in 1965 and returned to the Soldier community.

She was born May 10, 1899, in Delia, the daughter of William and Cora Dove Wells. She was graduated from Soldier High School in 1917 and attended Strickler’s Business College in Topeka two years.

Miss Wells was a member of First United Methodist Church in Topeka.

Survivors include two sisters, Geneva Jones, Estes Park, Colo., and Velma Meade, Topeka; and a brother, Lester Wells, Grants Pass, Ore.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Soldier Cemetery. Miss Wells will lie in state after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
