Obituary- Whearty, Martin


Martin L. Whearty
Martin Leroy Whearty, 80, retired farmer of Rossville, died Tuesday at Wichita.

He was born Feb. 29, 1884, at Westmoreland and lived in the Rossville community most of his life.

He was a member of the Christian Church and Hesperian Lodge No. Ill, AF&AM, both at Rossville.

A daughter, Betty Ann Whearty, died Oct. 11, 1921.

Mr. Whearty is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Alberta Whearty of the home; five sons, Galen L. and Everett J., both of Wichita, Calvin W., 1026 E. 30th, Riley R. of Fairborn, O., and Lester M. of White Plains, N. Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Maxine Wanick of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; and three half-brothers, James Nason, 1038 Chester, Leland Nason, 138 California, and William Nason, 132 California.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Rossville Methodist Church with burial in Rossville Cemetery. The Parker Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
