Obituary- White, James E.

James Edward White
James Edward White was born in Monroe county, Ohio, July 13, 1848. He passed away July 29, 1935, at his home in Rossville, at the age of 87 years and 16 days.

At the age of one year his parents moved with him to Woods county, West Virginia. They came to Jackson, county, Kansas, in 1870. Here he was united in marriage to Catherine Ann Faidley, November 7, 1875. They moved to Shawnee county in 1891, and have resided near Rossville since, until a week before his death, when the family moved to town.

He is survived by his widow, four daughters, Grace of the home; Mrs. Ida McAdams, Minco, Okla.; Mrs. Daisy Rice, Kansas city, Kansas; and Mrs. Maude Yoder, Council Grove, Kansas; four sons, A.E. and A.N., both of Rossville; James A., Waukesha, Wisconsin; and C.P. of Delia. One daughter, Stella, passed away in January, 1913. There are twenty-two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Clara Tustin, Cleveland, Ohio, also survives, as do three brothers, J.E. and M.D. White, Parkersburg, West Virginia, and E.A. White, Pasadena, Calif. Four sisters and three brothers have preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Wednesday, July 31 at 2:30 p.m. in charge of the pastor, Wright M. Horton. Music was furnished by a ladies quartet, Mrs. E.G. Griswold, Mrs. A.G. Wallerstedt, Mrs. C.E. Gresser and Mrs. E.E. Witter, with Miss Edith Higginbotham as accompanist. Pallbearers were Frank Zickefoose Frank Dannefer, M.L. Whearty, Londa Cottle, David Davis and Sam Cottle.

Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.

Rice and daughter, Katherine of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Don Yoder of Council Grove, Mrs. Ida McAdams and daughter, Marjorie of Minco, Okla., Mr. James White of Wankesha, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Osborn and son Claude, Mr. Ernie Stevenson, and Mrs. Minnie Stevenson of Soldier, Kansas, Mrs. Eva Dustin and daughter Wilma, Mrs. Vernon Shearer of Topeka, Mrs. H.E. Maxey of Yukon, Okla., Mr. T. D. Faidley of Circleville, Kansas, Mrs. Blanche Driscoll of Silver Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mitchell and Mrs. Wm. Mitchell of Delia.
