Obituary- Whitten, Mary

Mary L. Whitten
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Mary L. Whitten, 74, Topeka, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 1995, at a Topeka hospital.

Mrs. Whitten was a registered nurse and worked a short time at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka and for the Topeka and Shawnee County Health Department. She also worked in the Department of Health and Environment for the State of Kansas. She served in the Army from 1945 to 1947.

She was born Sept. 4,1921, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Paschal P. and Emma Ford Enos. She earned a nursing degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Public Health certificate from the University of Minnesota.

Mrs. Whitten was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Zonta Club of Topeka.

Survivors include a daughter, Jan Harrington, Blue Springs, Mo.; a son, John M. Whitten, Medford, Ore.; a brother, Dr. Jack P. Enos, Yukon, Okla.; and a grandson.

Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Relatives and friends will meet at 3758 S.W. Wood Valley Drive following the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th, Topeka, 66604
