Mrs. Ishmael's Father Died
Mrs. H.E. Ishmail was called to Missouri last week by the illness of her father. The day following her arrival he died. The following from the Chillicothe Tribune is an account of the funeral.:
Geo. L. Williams, 78 years old a veteran of the Civil War and one of Chillicothe's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens, died Thursday night at 10:45 o'clock at the family home, 508 Linn street in Highview.
Mr. Williams was taken ill with the grip three weeks ago, and from the first his condition was serious. An attack of grip developed into pneumonia and for more than a week his demise had been almost hourly expected.
Mr. Williams was a native of Pennsylvania but had resided in and near Meadville, Mo., for 31 years previous to moving to Chillicothe 21 years ago. He served throughout the Civil War and after coming to Missouri engaged in the fruit and nursery business.
Mr. Williams was commander of Tindall Post, G.A.R. and the post attended the funeral in a body.
Besides the widow he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Gertrude Cheney of Chillicothe, Mrs. H.E. Ishmael of Rossville, Kansas, Mrs. E.B. Myers, of Kansas City, and E.G. Williams of Chicago.
Funeral services took place Sunday morning, conducted by E.E. Priest, of the Christian church, and the body was then taken to Meadville on the 10:45 Burlington train, where interment was made.
