Shootings investigated
HORTON — Law officers were using a metal detector Wednesday to search the yard around a mobile home here Wednesday as an investigation continued into the shooting deaths of two Horton men.
The dead men, George “Hank” Williams, 51, and Jeffery Le Roy Lindsey, 24, were discovered in the mobile home on the west side of town Tuesday evening. A police spokesman said authorities had been notified by telephone call of the deaths at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators would not comment on the circumstances surrounding the deaths or about a weapon or weapons. However, Brown County Coroner Dr. Delbert Larson, Hiawatha, said the two died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Williams’ most serious wounds were to the chest and lungs and Lindsey’s were to the head, Larson said.
An autopsy was being performed by a Wichita pathologist, Larson said Wednesday.
Horton Police Chief Don Groshong and agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation were at the shooting scene where a metal detector was being used in the barricaded yard Wednesday.
