Obituary- Wilt, Melinda
Death Claimed Mrs. Daniel Wilt Monday
Mrs. Melinda Wilt, wife of Daniel Wilt, passed away at 4 o'clock last Monday morning after being ill for a few weeks. Mrs. Wilt was a sufferer from heart trouble and for the past few weeks had been in a serious condition. The funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock conducted by Rev. A.J. Crawford, assisted by Rev. J.R. Shaffer. Interment was made in the Rossville cemetery.
Melinda Kern was born at Blain, Perry county, Pa., Sept. 28, 1839 and was aged 78 years, 6 months and 24 days at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Daniel Wilt in December 1860 and sixteen years later came with her family to Kansas and located at Rossville, where the family have since held their residence.
To this union nine children were born - two of whom, Samuel and Roy, have preceeded her to the great beyond. Mrs. Wilt has lived a quiet Christian life, and was especially devoted to her home and family.
The surviving members of her family are the husband, four daughters, Mrs. Mary Binns, Mrs. A.B. Jamieson, Mrs. Fannie Silvers, all of Rossville; Mrs. E.J. Howard, of Topeka; three sons, R.L., J.R. and I.B., all residents of Rossville. One nephew, Mr. J.W. Miller, also resides at Rossville.
