Mrs. Mary J. Wood
ROSSVILLE - Mrs. Mary J. Wood, 79, Rossville, died Saturday, April 11, at a St. Marys nursing home.
Mrs. Wood taught at Twin Rose School north of Rossville from 1942 to 1946.
She was born Feb. 2, 1908, at To-peka, the daughter of Rufus A. and Nellie M. Martin Lillard. She lived at Rossville all her life.
Mrs. Wood was a member of the Christian Church in Rossville.
She was married to Frank E. Wood Sept. 4, 1928, at Holton. He died Feb. 26, 1977. An infant daughter, Ruth Ellen Wood, died in 1930 and a son, Frank E. Wood Jr., died Oct. 4, 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Martha Rezac, Silver Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Bagby and Mrs. Phyllis Graves, both of Rossville; two brothers, Glendon Lillard and Henry Lillard, both of Rossville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mrs. Wood will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
