Obituary- Carrell, Clayton
ROSSVILLE -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Church here for Clayton W. Carrell, 89, Route 1, Rossville, who died Saturday, Oct. 8, 1994, at a nursing home here.
He was born April 15, 1905 in Leonardville, the son of Wilbur Grayson and Sophia Marie Schultes Carrell, and spent his early life in the Leonardville and Randolph communities. He lived northwest of Rossville since 1936. He was a farmer and stockman many years and worked for Kaw Dehydrators in Rossville several years.
Mr. Carrell was a member of the Christian Church in Rossville and a 50-year member of Modern Woodmen of America in St. Marys. He was a trustee on the Rossville Township board 33 years and had served as township assessor.
He was married to Alverta M. Lemon March 5, 1936, in Rossville. She died Sept. 7, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Leroy E. Carrell, Rossville; and two sisters, Alice Menkens, Kansas City, Mo. and Lula Webb, Salina.
Burial will be in Rossville Cemetery. Mr. Carrell will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Piper-Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Church or Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion, both in Rossville, 66533.
