Dorothy Ozell Burton
SILVER LAKE- Dorothy Ozell Littrell Smith Burton, 81, Silver Lake, died Monday, May 15, 1995, at a Topeka hospital.
Mrs. Burton was a Licensed Practical Nurse and a psychiatric technician. She had worked at several Topeka hospitals and nursing homes before she retired from the Menninger Foundation.
She was born June 15, 1913, at Liberty, the daughter of Jack Osbie and Winifred Olford Gilpin. She had lived at Blue Mound and at Iola before she moved to Silver Lake in 1970.
Mrs. Burton was member of the auxiliary to the Jimmie Lillard Post NO. 31 of the American Legion at Rossville.
She was married to James W.L. Littrell in 1934 at Fort Sill, Okla. He died Nov. 23, 1944. She was married to Robert Smith in 1947. They were divorced. She was married to Willard J. Burton on April 23, 1965, at Miami, Okla. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, James W. Littrell, Louisburg, Charles E. Littrell, Warrensburg, Mo., and Bobby Geane, Rolling Stone, Minn.; three daughters, Nalda J. Bergeron, Bangor, Maine, Patricia J. Smethers, Gardner, and Wynonna Kay McQuay, Osawatomie; a brother, Max Gilpin, Fresno, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Blue Mound. Mrs. Burton will lie in state after 11a.m. today at the mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Rossville Senior Center, 429 Pearl, Rossville, 66533.
