Philipp/Quakenbush Couple Married at Ward-Meade Park
Michel' Jolene Philipp and Allen Rex Quakenbush were married Saturday, June 14, 1986, at historic Ward-Meade Park, Topeka, by the Rev. Don Richardson, Ottawa.

Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Welch, Topeka, and Mr. David Philipp, Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. Quackenbush is the son of Mrs. Barbara Quakenbush, Beloit, and the late Rex Quakenbush.

Michel', a 1981 graduate of Rossville High School, attended the University of Kansas and graduated from Washburn University with a communications degree in 1985. She is employed by the Kansas Press Association as director of the membership services division.

Mr. Quakenbush is a 1972 graduate of Beloit High School. He graduated from the William Allen White School of Journalism, University of Kansas, with a journalism degree in 1976, and is a sports writer with the Topeka Capital-Journal.
Attending the bride were Nancy Ramberg and Toni Palmer, Topeka; and Janice Taylor, Silver Lake. The groom’s attendants were Jim Ramberg and Allen Leiker, Topeka; and Mike Kadel, Coffeyville. Roger Simpson, Denver, and Greg Askins, Hays, served as ushers.

Lori Petrowski Brown, Lenexa, attended the guest book. Servers were Debbie Bach, Topeka, and Debbie Rezac, Onaga.

The bride wore an ivory lace-covered tea-length gown gathered at the waist, with sheer, long sleeves. She carried a bouquet of pink sweetheart roses, yellow daisies, stephanotis and ivy. Her attendants wore royal blue silk street-length dresses and carried bouquets of assorted spring flowers.

The groom and groomsmen wore black tuxedoes, highlighted with royal blue cumberbunds and neckties. The groomsmen also wore white carnation boutonnieres; the groom’s boutonniere was a red rose with baby’s breath.

The early morning garden ceremony was followed with a reception at Ward-Meade, and an all-day picnic at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Topeka.

The couple traveled to Vancouver, British Columbia, for their honeymoon. They are now at home in Topeka.
