Obituary- Bush, Delia

MRS. JOHN BUSH, PIONEER, DIED MONDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Delia Jane Bush, a pioneer resident of this state and for nearly 60 years a resident of this community, who died Monday afternoon at the family home, were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Bush was born in Kankakee, Ill., in 1848 and came to Kansas with her parents in the year 1856, settling near Big Springs, Kansas.
Mrs. Bush, whose maiden name was Fix., was married to Mr. John Bush, January 2, 1870. She died Feb. 11, 1929, after a several months illness, leaving beside the husband, seven children, Mrs. Jan Canaven, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Lucy Mitchell, Silver Lake, Mrs. Nora Navarre, Topeka; Mrs. Grace Beard, Wichita; and William, Nixon and Isadore Bush of Rossville. There are also 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Louisa Farris of Topeka, surviving her. Mrs. Bush was 80 years of age.
Rev. Gordon S. Pritchett conducted the services with the assistance of a quartette composed of Mrs. E. G. Griswold, Mrs. William Butters, Mr. A L. Ruff and Mr. Pritchett. Mrs. Butters sang a solo, “One Sweetly Solemn Thought,” with Miss Lucie Griswold at the piano.
Burial was in the Rossville cemetery.
