Obituary- Butler, Michael
DELIA -- Michael James Butler, 67, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born March 23, 1944 at Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of John Kellogg Butler Jr. and Marie Cecelia Walsh Butler. He lived in Hawaii until moving to California at an early age. Michael served in the U.S. Army. He had lived in the Delia community since 1985.
Mr. Butler was a machinist and was self employed in manufacturing most of his life. He love God, his Country and Family. Michael was instrumental in starting St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Maple Hill where he was a member and led the rosary each weekend before mass. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jack Butler.
On Oct. 7, 1989 he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Beaner Choate at St. Marys. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Rose (Colin) Butler VanderPutten , and Mary Katherine Butler, all of Delia; three sons, Zachary James (Miki) Butler and Judson Daniel (Kim) Butler, all of Wylie, Texas, and Joshua Dylan (Dana) Choate, Cedar Hill, Texas; a sister, Mimi (Bill) Loucks in Alabama; a brother, Rhett (Connie) Butler in California; 15 grandchildren.
Requiem Mass will be at 9 a.m. Wed., Oct. 5, 2011 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Maple Hill. Interment will be in the maple Hill cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tues., Oct. 4, 2011 at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to be used for Masses.
