Roy Harding Dies

Word was received here Monday evening by Mrs. W.H. Courtney of the death of her son-in-law, Roy Harding, at the family home near Pauline, just south of Topeka.

Mr. Harding had been in poor health several years, but for the past several months had been seriously ill, and his death had been expected momentarily for several weeks. Death was due to cancer or tuberculosis of the bladder.

Mr. Harding lived in the Delphos community a number of years, and was a Past-Master of the Delphos Masonic lodge. He was almost 43 years of age, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie Courtney Harding, and two sons, Roy Jr., and Darrell Dean. He is also survived by two sisters.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday morning from the Delphos Methodist Church, with Rev. L.R. Fish in charge. The masons will have charge of the grave service.

ROY C. HARDING
Roy Clifford Harding was born in Rossville, Kansas on the 27th day of November, 1891, and departed this life for the better world, from his home on Route No. 1, one-half mile north of Pauline, Kansas, Monday afternoon, April 23, at the age of 42 years, 4 months and 27 days.

Roy was a great lover of nature – the flowers of the field and the birds of the air had a message for him, and in his last hours he gained much comfort from these emblems of God's great love for His children.

He was much in love with his work in the Church, and was never happier than when working with his boys in the Sunday School, who returned his love, and will miss him so much.

He was a member of the Delphos Methodist Episcopal Church and was also a member and past master of Masonic Lodge No. 202 of Delphos, and while unable to attend the services of the lodge in the past 2 or 3 years, he gained much comfort in talking of the lessons received in the work of the lodge.

He was also at one time a member of the Kansas National Guard.

He was united in marriage on the 22nd day of September, 1915 to Miss Charlotte Courtney of Delphos, Kansas, and to this union two sons were born. He was a devoted husband, and a kind and loving father. He was so appreciative of all that was done for him, and all thru his suffering was so patient.

He leaves to mourn his going but not as those who have no hope, his wife, two sons, Roy Jr. and Darrel Dean, of the home address; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Ruddy of Davenport, Ia., and Mrs. Flora Peterson of Milwaukee, Wis., and a host of other friends and neighbors whose lives have been enriched by his coming and going.

Funeral services were held at the Delphos Methodist Church, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. L.R. Fish. The body was taken to the Delphos Cemetery for interment with the Masonic Lodge conducting the graveside service.
