Birthday- Hartzell, Matilda 4
GRANDMA HARTZELL 100 YEARS YOUNG, SEPT. 25
The 100th birthday of Mrs. Matilda Hartzell was celebrated Tues¬day, September 25th.
Members of her family who were with her on this memorable occasion were her daughter, Mrs. W.E. Salley and Mr. Salley, her sons, L.P. Hartzell and Mrs. Hartzell, Frank Hartzell and Mrs. Hartzell, her nephews, Charley and Frank Hartzell of Greenville, Ohio.
Mrs. Hartzell was presented with a cake suitably decorated for her 100th anniversary. Many cards and gifts were received from friends and relatives. It was a source of regret that her two other sons E.D. of Myrtle Point, Oregon and Melvin of Seattle, Wash., could not be present.
Mrs. Hartzell has been a resident of Rossville since 1872. At present she is in a nursing home in Topeka and has been bedfast for two years. She still retains her interest in her old time friends.
Her patient and cheerful disposition has won the esteem and respect of the nurses and the other patients in the home to all of whom she is “Grandma Hartzell.”
