Marriage- Brown, Georgia-Flood, Scott 2

Georgia Nelsene Brown and Scott Flood, Wichita, were married July 30 in the Free Methodist Church in McPherson.

Rev. Claude E. Griffith of the Free Methodist Church and Rev. Jerry Hamden, First Methodist Church, Ottawa, officiated at the 2:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George N. Brown, Rossville, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Flood, McPherson.

Church decorations included heart-shaped candelabra, roses, and car¬nations. Pews were marked with burgundy and pink ribbon.

The organist was Mr. Alvin Willems, Blue Hill, Nebr. Pianist was Kerri Lynne Brown, Great Bend, sister-in-law of the bride. The vocalists were Chris Boulanger, Emporia, and Peggy Burkholder, Newton. Music selections included “God, A Woman and A Man”, “Whither Thou Goest” and “The Lord’s Prayer”.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown with ivory alecon lace bodice and full Bishop sleeves, ending in pearl-buttoned cuffs. The empire waist and Victorian collar were accented with a band of lace. The crepe skirt was draped with a sheer organza overlay, which flowed into a chapel length train trimmed with lace.

The hat was in the style of a derby covered with net illusion and appliqued lace flowers, accented by a band of lace on the turned-up brim. The fingertip veil was attached by a lace crown and bow.

She carried a colonial bouquet of pink and burgundy silk roses, accented with burgundy and pink stephanotis, held with an ivory illusion and lace trim.

Marcia Wassenberg, Manhattan, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Dana Green, Topeka, and Kathy Lillie, El Dorado. They wore floor-length gowns of burgundy crepe styled in a straight shift with shoulder straps, covered by a pink organza overlay cape which flowed to the floor and was caught by a burgundy ribbon at the waist. They carried colonial bouquets styled like the bride’s.

Candle-lighters were Jeremy Bain, Arkansas City, who was attired in a burgundy tuxedo and Katie Morris, Holton, who had a burgundy and lace floor-length dress. Both are cousins of the bride.

The ring bearers were Kye Clark and Levin Clark, Wichita, cousins of the groom.

Best man was Mike Flood, Wichita, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were James Johnson and Del Mann, McPherson. Ushers were Corey Flood, McPherson, brother of the groom, Luke C. Brown, Great Bend, brother of the bride, Doug Brown, Rossville, brother of the bride, and Sam Ball, Wichita.

Mrs. Brown wore a street length dress of mauve crepe covered by a jacket with long, gathered sleeves. The jacket’s square neckline and peplum were accented with re-embroidered lace and embroidery. Her accessories were a grey leather purse and shoes. She wore a pink silk rose corsage accented with burgundy stephanotis and a lace bow.

Mrs. Flood wore a street length mauve dress with tucked bodice and sleeves, pleated skirt and a cummerbund. She wore burgundy shoes and purse, and a burgundy silk rose corsage accented with pink stephanotis and a lace bow.

A reception was held at the church and was attended by 250. Hosts were Henry and Ruth Cooney and Randy and Robbin Clark. Decorations for the serving table included pink candles, white lace tablecloth with pink underlining.

After the reception, a buffet was held at the Red Coach Inn for the out-of-town guests. The menu included champagne, tea, punch, sandwiches, cheese, vegetable dip, and meatballs.

Maxine Spence, aunt of the groom, made and cut the wedding cake. April Redfern, Anthony, and Susan Robbins, Wichita, served the cake and punch. Reception helpers were Stephanie Morris, Holton, Angie Farley, Ronda Mitchell and Candy Mitchell, Rossville, cousins of the bride.

Jenny Woolsey, Newton, was in charge of the guest book. In charge of the gift table were Ann Bicknell Keir, Salina, and Leslie Henderson, Halstead.

Programs were handed out by Lennie Phillips, McPherson, and Stephanie Morris, Holton, cousin of the bride.

Special guests were the grandparents: Grandfather Morris, Grandfather Hune, Grandmother Allen, and Grandfather Smay.

The bride, a graduate of Chaparral High School, Hutchinson Junior College, and Emporia State University, is a first grade teacher with the Valley Center school district.

The bridegroom, a graduate of McPherson High School, attended Emporia State University, and is employed by the Wichita Water Department.

For her going-away ensemble, the bride wore an aqua and pink window pane check shirtwaist dress, accented with a pink bow at the neckline. Her shoes were taupe and her purse was of taupe nylon trimmed with brown leather.

After a wedding trip to San Diego and Las Vegas, they are at home at 6245 East Parkview, Wichita, Ks. 67219.
