Marriage- Conley, Patricia-Martinek, Kenneth 2

Conley-Martinek Vows Solemnized December 1
A candlelight setting was the scene of the marriage of Patricia Marie Conley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Conley, Delia, and Kenneth Lee Martinek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Martinek, Silver Lake.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend Paul Mitchell, Parsons, and the Reverend Larry Buss, on Saturday, December 1, 1979, at 7 p.m. in the Rossville United Methodist Church.

Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Janice Sharp, Rossville, organist, and Mrs.
Becky Cortez, Topeka, pianist, played a selection of wedding music. Two candelabras and a kneeling bench were decorated with red roses, Christmas greenery and large white velvet bows. The aisle was decorated with six candelabras, trimmed with greenery and white velvet bows.

The bride, escorted down the aisle by her father, wore a gown of white lace, with a low neckline accented with embroidered lace trim. The sleeves were slim with pointed accents at the wrists. The bodice was fitted with a corded waistline. The full skirt was made of layers of ruffles, trimmed with embroidered lace, and swept into more layers of ruffles, to form a cathedral train. Her cathedral-length veil of illusion, was held by a sweetheartshaped cap, covered with reembroidered lace and accented with pearls. Embroidered lace trimmed the edge of the veil.

She carried a nosegay of red sweetheart rosebuds, stephanotis, baby’s breath and Christmas greenery tied with a white bow. She also carried a white linen handkerchief trimmed with knitted lace, which her great-great-great-grandmother had carried on her wedding day.

Miss Sheri Gabbert, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Also attending the bride were Mrs. Debbie Broxterman, Topeka, Mrs. Anna Lane, Silver Lake, Misses Laura Broyles and Cori Crum, Topeka.

Their dresses were fashioned of Christmas red chiffon and taffeta, with two ruffles at the low neckline, which flowed over the arms, forming sleeves. The corded waistlines were accented by a fabric rose at the back waist, where the cascading skirt ruffles were attached. The attendants all wore red picture hats, with chiffon trim and a fabric rose for accent. They carried red rose and baby’s breath bouquets with greenery, tied with white ribbons.

Misses Anita Rachelle and Laurie Ann Timmons, Berryton, cousins of the bride, were candle lighters. They wore floor length gowns of Christmas red, fashioned with an off-the-shoulder ruffle, fitted bodice, set-up waist band and a cascading ruffle attached at the back waist with a fabric rose. They wore baby’s breath and stephanotis clips in their hair. Their tapers were trimmed with a lace ruffle, red rose, greenery and long white streamers.
Little Miss Heide Wise, Springfield, Mo., granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Kelsey, Rossville, was the flower girl. She wore a white lace floor length gown, with fitted bodice and full sleeves. The neckline was trimmed with pearls. Her full skirt was made of tiers of ruffles, trimmed with lace, and a cathedral length train. Her dress was fashioned after the bride’s dress. Her hair was adorned with a halo of baby’s breath and stephanotis. She carried a white lace basket trimmed with a red rose, greenery and white streamers.

Aaron Elevier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Elevier, Silver Lake, carried the rings on a heart-shaped embroidered eyelet pillow, trimmed with a ruffle. The rings were attached by a red bow with long streamers. His three-piece black tuxedo had a velvet vest and tails. He wore a red rose and baby’s breath boutonniere.
