Obituary- Collier, George
G.W. Collier Buried Here
George Walker Collier, formerly of this city, who had been making his home at Halstead, KS., with his son Dr. L.G. Collier, died at 1:30 last Sunday afternoon at the H.W. Woods home, 5500 Forest Ave., in Kansas City, following a paralytic stroke at 7:45 last Friday morning. He never regained consciousness. Mr. Collier had left Halstead in apparent good health to visit a sick brother at Clark, Mo.
The deceased was 78 years, 2 months and 18 days old. He was a native of Howard County, Missouri, where he was born Dec. 20, 1850. He was educated at Mount Pleasant college, Huntsville, Mo. and in his younger days taught school. In later years he followed the carpenter trade.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Rupp at Odessa, Mo., April 5, 1885 and one son was born to them. Mrs. Collier passed away in August 1925, during their residence here.
Beside his son, Dr. L.G. Collier, he is survived by five brothers. He was eldest of his family. The brothers are T.M. Collier, Clark, Mo., L.N. and J.W. Collier, Armstrong, Mo.; J.D. Collier, Odessa, Mo.; S.A. Collier, Kansas City, Mo. Funeral services were held in Mrs. Forester's Funeral Home, Kansas City, Wed., March 13 at 10 a.m. and the body brought to Rossville for burial in the Rossville cemetery.
