Homer Charles Colter
Homer Charles Colter, 71, 135 Van Buren, was dead on arrival Monday, April 15, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Colter had been in the tire business 26 years, and was employed by the City of Topeka six years before he retired.
He was born May 2, 1913, the son of Charles Nelson and Goldie Lister Colter. He lived in Rossville before he moved to Topeka in 1943. He was a member of the National Camping and Hiking Association.
He was married to Velma E. Startup April 5, 1937. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Charles Homer Colter, Topeka; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ann Fletchall, Topeka; four brothers, Orval Harden, Topeka, Ovie Harden, Silver Lake, Bob Harden, Rossville, and Wilbur Harden, Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Loretta Murray and Mrs. Marcella Wunder, both of Topeka, and Mrs. Lola Patton, Escondido, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. Mr. Colter will lie in state at the mortuary after 10 a.m. today.
